Andover U11s played St Cross U11s in the Winchester District Cricket Clubs’ Association Oliver Cup Final last Sunday at Littleton CC.  St Cross batted first and reached a creditable 124 – 3 from their 20 overs, helped by several dropped catches, but there was a wicket each for Lee Newman-Judd (1-7), Alex Aldridge (1-14) and Ben Knight (1-21). Andover soon fell behind the required run-rate, to a good bowling attack, but had only reached 54-1 by the half-way stage. June 21st: Andover U13As, sponsored by David Fox Private Hire, had a disappointing trip to Trojans for the Barfoot Cup Final against St Cross. Batting first, Andover were restricted to 86-6 from their 20 overs, despite useful knocks from the Knight twins, Matthew [12] and James [16*] who were the only two batters to reach double figures. 86 was always going to be a difficult score to defend on a flat wicket and fast outfield and St Cross duly won in 13 overs for the loss of only 3 wickets. James Knight [1-10]. Ben Fletcher [1-11] and Joshua Ballentine-Dykes [1-25] were the wicket takers helped by a Matthew Knight stumping and an excellent diving catch by Sean Attwood.

INDOOR CRICKET WINTER 2004/2005

DUMMER CRICKET CENTRE

The Andover Young Lions VI won Division 3 of the Adult League at Dummer Cricket Centre [P13, W11, L2, D0] - Andover CC’s third team to be promoted in 8 months.

The team included Mike Adams, Luke Andrews, Rob Atkins, Tim Brown, Tim Clarke, Mark Copleston, Luke Graham, Chris Hadfield, Jonty Hadfield, Philip Hadfield (only when somebody who shall remain nameless failed to turn up), Martin Roberts, John Walsh (played the first game and then we couldn’t get rid of him) and Ollie Williams. Quite a few people eventually remembered how to run between the wickets, pitch the ball up and not bowl down the leg side. Unfortunately, the Handicap Knock-Out Cup has been cancelled due to lack of teams.

It is hoped to enter two teams in the 2005/2006 Winter.
