The under 15s have had a tremendous season, and deserve particular recognition. Jock, and Steve Graham manage this side, and it is captained by Luke Graham. They reached the County final, where they were defeated by Locks Heath. The won the Winchester League, and the Winchester and District knock out cup, called the Millard Cup. They were runners up in the Salisbury league. On Wednesday however, the team beat a combined Locks Heath and Sarisbury XI, a formidable side containing 5 county, 2 west of England and the rest district players, in the final of the Hampshire Junior Trophy (previously the Europa Cup). This is a competition which contains over 20 teams, and the early stages are played on a league basis. Locks Heath batted first and got a good score, 214-3, off their 42 overs. Given encouragement to approach the task positively, the team reached the target with 11 balls to spare. Steve Williams top scored with 42, and several other batsmen made good contributions to the total. Congratulations then to Luke and team on a brilliant season for the under 15s, and well done to Steve Williams and Rob Palmer for achieving county honours. Next year, many of the under 15s will move into senior cricket full time and will depend on senior players for the encouragement they need to continue with their development. As a club we must continue to give them this support as coaches or colleagues on the field. Luke Graham receives the Europa Cup on 30/8/2000
