Andover Cricket Club 1st XI (Sat) v Hursley Park on Sat 08 May 2010 at 1:00pm
Andover Cricket Club Won by 9 wickets

Match report Andover continued their unbeaten start to the season with a comprehensive win over Hurlsey Park. On a cold and wet day at London Road, skipper Richard Taylor won the toss and decided to take advantage of the conditions and field first. Opening bowlers Will Prozesky and James O’Gorman pegged back the Hursley batsmen with their immaculate line and length and restricted the away team to one run an over for the first ten overs. It was then that the first breakthrough came with Prozesky’s away swing proving too much for the Hurlsey opener Miller, hitting the outside edge and being caught by talented fifteen year old wicketkeeper Robbie Hadfield, the first of five catches for him behind the stumps.
The good start was continued when Taylor brought himself and Luke Graham on to bowl and it was Graham who got the next wicket, his first of three, when he trapped Cox LBW. The pressure started to mount on the away side as Andover’s bowlers gave nothing away and wickets started to fall with regularity.
Jonty Hadfield was introduced into the attack for three overs of miserly spin and produced a wicket in his first over. This was followed by Taylor snaring the wicket of veteran Chris Miller, another superb catch behind the stumps by Robbie Hadfield. O’Gorman was brought back on to bowl and soon after he removed the danger-man Brendegrast who compiled a tidy fifty. From this point it was a matter of time until Hursley were bowled out as they tried to increase the run rate.
Mike Adams ripped out two of the tail-enders, which makes him Andover’s leading wicket taker so far this season, and a first-class run out from Ali Hooper ended the Hursley innings on 155 all out off 48 overs.
The Andover run chase started positively with Ali Hooper crashing 25 runs in quick time before being clean bowled by the Hursley pace-man Wilson. This paved the way for Will Prozesky, who was clearly aware that rain was in the air and quick runs were required. Prozesky showed why he sits third in the all-time Southern Premier League run scorers as he demolished the Hursley bowlers to all parts of the ground on his way to 90 (not out) from just 60 balls. The South African born powerhouse hit 3 huge sixes and 15 fours in an innings of pure class, which has surely sent a warning out to the rest of the league’s bowlers.
Andover cruised to finish line with Prozesky hitting a 6 to win in just the 23rd over to complete a resounding nine wicket victory for the town side. He was ably supported by Robbie Hadfield (18 not out) who rotated the strike with great maturity and showed his worth at the top of the order.
Andover look to continue their unbeaten run tomorrow when they travel to Hartley Whitney.
