Hartley Witney II v Andover Cricket Club 3rd XI (Sat) on Sat 22 May 2010 at 2:00pm
Andover Cricket Club Won by 17 runs

Match report On Sat 22nd of May Andover III's travelled down to Hartley Witney. Andover lost the toss and was put in to bat first. P Roberts and J Halle-Smith got the team off to a great start with some pretty fine shots played all round. The first wicket to fall was Roberts on 53 and followed by J Blackburn (1) shortly after. Andover was on 73 for 2 on the 17th over when P Bernard (52) joined Halle-Smith at the crease and runs started to come regularly. But with one too many quick singles saw unfortunate Halle-Smith walking back to the pavilion on 34 runs and Andover on 116. P van der Westhuizen (44) soon joined P Bernard and they took it to the next step and not long the score reached 160. Bernard soon got caught followed by the tail Enders that struggled to get any runs. J Kent (2), D Cope (4 not out), S Holloway (2) and D Turner (3 not out) saw Andover to 202 off the allocated 45 over’s. After tea Andover went in to the field full of hope and inspiration, but the boundary was full of local spectators wanting their team to win. With some great bowling all round and some brilliant fielding kept the pressure on Hartley Witney II's and soon wickets started to fall. The spinners D Cope (3 for 39 off 10) and A Aldridge (1 for 48 off 8) kept the batsman guessing and slowed down the run rate dramatically. Pace bowlers P Roberts (2 for 28 off 5.2), D Turner (1 for 36 off 10) and P van der Westhuizen (3 for 39 off 10) bowled great line and length and the stumps got broken often. A Aldridge took 2 good catches and another off his own bowling as well and a brilliant slip catch by J Blackburn saw Andover III's with their first win for the season by 17 runs. Andover III's are home next week against Ventnor II.
