Match report Andover III's travelled to South Wilts in need of a win desparatly. Andover won the toss and decided to batt first. Openers M Knight and P Roberts struggled at first with the high bounce and it wasnt long till Knight got caught behind for 1. Roberts carried on strong and put on 32 before he got bowled. P Barnard (31) and J Everitt (58) steadied the ship and carried on ticking the scoreboard over. At the 35th over Andover were on 140 and needed to pick up the pace. With Barnard caught trying to go for the big one saw W Fingers (21 not out) come in and push the ball in to all the gaps. Everitt got out LBW on the 39th over and with this saw the the Captain P van der Westhuizen come to the crease. He didnt hang around and put on 29 runs before trying to clear the boundary again. Andover ended the innings on 203 for 7. After tea Andover took the field fuul of confidence and produced great fielding and bowling. The pressure got to the South Wilts Batsmen and 3 wickets fell within a few balls. First one caught by Barnard in the covers off Roberts bowling and then Blackburn and cope each knocking over the stumps. Opener Williams and Captain Newman decided to put the foot down and both saw out the brilliant bowling from D Cope. But on 1 short of his half century Williams got stumped by the rapid Knight who also managed to get a run out near the end of the innings. The new batsman Bettbridge tried to get off the mark straight away but misjudged Skipper P van der Westhuizen's football skills and got run out for a duck. South Wilts managed to finish the innings on 182 for 8. The bowling figures for Andover are as followes: Cope 3 for 24 off 10; Blackburn 3 for 47 off 9; Roberts 1 for 30 off 10 and W Turner 1 for 18 off 3. Andover III's are at home this Sat against Fareham & Crofton.
