Match report Andover's 3rd XI won the toss against Fareham & Crofton II's and decided to batt on one of the hottest days of the year. Andover openers M Knight and J Andrews started off really well. Knight got caught for 20 and off the 8th over but Andrews still kept on strong. Everett (15) kept giving strike to Andrews who by now had his feet stuck in but Everett soon got trapped LBW once again. When Andrews finally fell for 86 Andover where on 133 for 3. But P Barnard and P van der Westhuizen kept the runs coming strong. After a long battle Barnard lost his wicket bowled for 19 and this saw G Anderson to the crease. Anderson and Van der Westhuizen pushed hard the final overs and Andover finished on 259 for 5 off the 45 overs allocated. Van der Westhuizen managed 74 not out and Anderson 18 not out. After tea Andover fielded and bowled briliantly like the week before and the pressure soon got to the batsman. Andover managed to keep the runs to a minimum and saw Fareham & Crofton to a finish of 179 for 9 off their allocated overs. Wickets went to D Cope 3 for 41, H Blackburn 2 for 42, W Turner 1 for 29, G Anderson 1 for 33 and D Turner 1 for 20. Andover III's are home again next week against Vospers.
