Andover Cricket Club 3rd XI (Sat) v Vospers on Sat 03 Jul 2010 at 2:00pm
Andover Cricket Club Won by 8 wickets

Match report On Sat 3rd of July Andover's 3rd XI were looking to build on excellent recent form to get another good win at fortress London Road. Captain Pete van der Westhuizen lost the all important toss and Andover were asked to field first. What happened next was a team playing as a unit reaping the rewards of hard work and a team ethic. Opening bowlers Harry Blackburn (2 for 22) and Dan Leavesley (3 for 17) started in aggresive fashion and within the first few deliveries the first wicket fell. In the 4th over Leavesley found a perfect line and lenghth for his medium pace and managed to get two wickets in two balls. With these top order scalps back in the pavilion (well sat on the bench with their pads off at least) Vospers were on a mere 10 for 3. Andover kept up the pressure throughout the innings with great bowling and encouragement (Banter) and rotating the bowlers which paid dividends. At the 22nd over mark Andover took Vospers last wicket and they were all out with 77 on the board and over half their overs not used. Special note should also go to ACC stalwart with Phil (Big Eff) Knight taking 2 for 21 and young Dan Turner enhancing his blossoming legendary status by taking a fantastic 3 wickets for just 4 runs.

Without taking tea, Andover went straight in to bat with a potentially very big hitting opening partnership of Josh Ballentine-Dykes and Pete van der Westhuizen. That lit the fuse and the fireworks went off!!! quick. The pair didnt waste any time regularly hitting the boundry to the Vospers bowlers dispair. After several bowling changes and a rush of blood by the batsman they managed to have Ballentine-Dykes stumped for 19. Buy that time the game was all over but the shouting as the score was 63 for 1 with the pinch hitting skipper bludgeoning his way to 39 until one to may meant he was out for a hard hitting 39. From there it was left to Jody Everett and Hary Blackburn to knock off the remaining runs easily and with no fuss in just 11.4 overs all before the tea break.

Andover's 3 XI travel to St Cross (Winchester)tommorrow afternoon hoping for another win to continue with the ever growing momentum away from the County 3 relegation zone.
