Upper Clatford v Andover Cricket Club 4th XI (Sat) on Sat 24 Jul 2010 at 2:00pm
Andover Cricket Club Lost by 146 runs

Match report Andover IV's clashed with Upper Clatford in a Regional Division 2 Northwest local derby, with a very strong team from Clatford embarassing the town side by 147 runs.

Andover skipper Matt Goodman won the toss and decided to take the new ball in an effort to get something out of a rapidly-drying pitch. Goodman made some quick in-roads into the upper order of the home team, taking the wickets of the openers R. Southwood (20) and N. Rennie (8) relatively early. Hamish Morton dismissed the always-dangerous Andy Cattle for only 7, before Fran Andrews and Alex Aldridge also chipped in with two more wickets. Clatford were under the cosh at 79-5, but C. Nicel (61 not out) and A. Harding (36) dug in. The pair batted very well, seeing off the spin attack and taking advantage of some wayward bowling from Andover's openers in their second spell. Goodman (10.0-1-51-3) and Leavesley (8.0-0-59-1) claimed another wicket each, but Clatford ended on a very healthy 193-7.

Andover's IVth team has yet to chase a total over 150 this year, and that quest will have to continue, as they collapsed to a very disappointing 47 all out. Andy Cattle found some turn in his home pitch, tearing through Andover's upper order as he took five wickets for only 14 runs off his ten overs. Matt Glenn (9.0-1-22-1) and C. Nicel (3.4-1-8-2) also bowled well at pace from the other end, and R. Southwood contributed a very tidy spell (2.0-1-2-1). Kieron Godwin was the only Andover player to make it into double-figures with 11 runs, though Morton (8) and Aldridge (7) also both contributed. In the end, it was a convincing win for Clatford and another frustrating loss for the town side.
