Match report Andover Sunday were blown away by a staggering opening spell of bowling at Falkland that proved to be the first defeat for Jonty Hadfield as captain. There was an abundance of swing and seam movement which completely soiled Andover's chances of setting a decent total. The capitulation of confidence was clear to see as the Falkland bowlers caused carnage and destroyed the Andover batting line up. At 13 -4 the only real resistance came in the form of James O'Gorman (15) before he was given out LBW even though the chances of the ball hitting the stumps was less than minimal. This poor decision meant all hopes of any recovery was diminished until the belligerant Pete Roberts (25) threw the bat to great effect near the end of the innings. One positive from the batting performance came from the stranded Phil Knight (6*) who confidently tucked in to the bowling before running out of partners. Bowled out for a meagre and embarrassing 94 due to a combination of brilliant swing bowling and the triumphant Olympics event the previous day.

Andover started brightly in the field with James Knight (2-10) taking two early wickets. However, any hopes of an unlikely victory faded quickly as N Pitcher (33) aggressively scored runs with ease and put the game beyond Andover. Credit to Harry Blackburn (1-17) who bowled with improved line and length and was arguably the pick of the bowlers. The game finished with a succession of boundaries as A Townsend took a liking to the bowling of Phil Knight to win by 6 Wickets. Disappointing.

Next up sees Andover's 20/20 XI travel to Paultons in the second round of the SEC T20 cup in what should be an entertaining game. All support is very much appreciated.
