Andover Cricket Club 1st XI (Sat) v Hampshire Academy on Sat 25 Jun 2011 at 11:00am
Andover Cricket Club Lost 76 runs

Match report Powells sponsored Andover hosted the Hampshire Academy in what was meant to be an ‘all day affair’, however the weather did not play ball. It was only due to some expert groundwork by a select few that allowed for a 27 over match to commence at 4pm.

The Academy batted first, and after getting off to a flyer due to some loose deliveries early on a big score looked on the cards. A fantastic spell of bowling from Richie Taylor, capturing 7 for 39 clawed them back. A final total of 163 was set which was around a par score.

The Andover chase got off to a cautious start, with the Academy bowlers bowling a tight line and length offering very few scoring deliveries. Once the wickets started falling though Andover were unable to put together a meaningful partnership that was required to chase down the total. Eventually being bowled out for a poultry 87.

With that match being the half-way point of the season, ACC look for a far more positive round two with things only able to get better, as they travel to Bournemouth who only just managed to scrape a win against ACC in the opening round. Andover welcome back diminutive stroke-maker Ali Hooper to their side and give a debut to new signing Ben Robbins.
