Match report Last Sunday Andover 2XI made the long journey north to face a strong Swindon side containing many first team players.

Experienced skipper Jock won the toss and after one look at flat dry pitch decided to bat first. Sam Holloway and Matt Knight made that look a good decision putting on 50 for the first wicket. After Holloway departed for 13, Alan Ellwood came in and scored a quickfire 17 to take the score up to 90 at the halfway point. Alex Aldridge joined Knight and the two set about the swindon bowling, taking the score up to 220. Knight was then bowled for a fine 122, and Aldridge departed soon after for a classy 43. It was left to first team opening bowler Mahmud Hassan and Ben Knight to take the score up 239.

Veteran seamer Phil Knight and Cameron Brown opened the bowling and immediatley tied down the swindon with accurate spells of bowling. Tim Smith and Ben Knight continued the working with the latter picking up a wicket. However apart form the odd moment of brilliance in the field from Ben Knight, the runs started to flow for swindon. Alex Aldridge picked up 3 wickets and Swindon required fifty from the last 7 overs. However Swindons big hitting lower order began to dominate Andovers bowling and despite miserly overs from Sam Holloway and Matt Knight, Swindon sneaked home to win by 6 wickets. Special mention must be made to colts Jack Mcmahon and Harry Williams for displaying good focus despite the hot conditions.
