Andover Cricket Club 4th XI (Sat) v Breamore on Sat 07 May 2011 at 2:00pm
Andover Cricket Club Lost by 9 wickets.

Match report The rain clouds parted long enough for Andover's 4th XI to start their league season against Breamore on Saturday. Andover lost the toss on a damp green top and were put in to bat against a slightly-diminished Breamore attack.

Missing the out-and-out pace of Viet, Breamore's Stuart Marlow and A. Bennett started well, keeping Andover's openers, Richard Channon (22) and Steve Lent (6), quiet for several overs before the first runs were scored. Lent and Channon started sensibly before Lent was caught at gully off Marlow. James Frecknall (3) went cheaply to a sensational catch at midwicket by Steve Dickens, giving the first change bowler, Tom Marlow, his first wicket.

The young Marlow then went on to wreak havoc on Andover's middle order, taking seven wickets for only eight runs off his first eight overs, including a hatrick of Webber, Ingram, and Morton. He left Andover reeling at 42-8 in the 24th, before skipper Matt Goodman (17 n.o.) and Robbie Skeates (15) steadied the ship. Skeates was dismissed playing across the line to a ball that kept low, leaving Marlow with final figures of 10.0-4-15-8. Fran Andrews (17 n.o.) and Goodman saw Andover through their 42 overs, finishing with a score of 97-9.

Stuart Marlow (44) and Shaun Marlow (44 n.o.) made Breamore's job look very easy, before David Richards (3.0-0-11-1) dismissed Stuart in the 16th over, with only six runs needed. Breamore made those up without further incident and started the season well on the back of the Marlow family. Andover IV's will need to pick themselves back up for a local derby next Saturday against Upper Clatford.
