Andover Cricket Club 4th XI (Sat) v Redlynch & Hale II on Sat 11 Jun 2011 at 2:00pm
Andover Cricket Club Won by 25 runs.

Match report Andover Cricket Club's 4th XI won their second game of the season against Redlynch & Hale II's on Saturday 11 June.

Skipper Matt Goodman won the toss and controversially decided to bat first on a surface still green from the previous night's rain. Despite an aggressive innings from Matt Brown (31), Andover were struggling to cope with the variable bounce on the wicket, and were up against the wall at 63 for 5 in the 18th over when Alex Aldridge and Brendan Clarke entered the frame. Their partnership saw Andover through almost to the close of play, as both Aldridge and Clarke recorded up half-centuries. Aldridge was finally dismissed in the 41st over, caught on 74, as he tried to push for the 200 mark. Clarke finished the match with 53 not out, and saw Andover through to a total that didn't look possible earlier in the match.

Redlynch & Hale started well, with their openers Crisp (10) and Surrige 2(2) looking aggressive from the start. After a shaky start in the field, Andover then caught well to dismiss Crisp in the sixth over, caught by Paul Barnard off of Brendan Clarke's bowling (4.0-0-24-1). Redlynch's captain Dave Webber (45) continued to attack, but Andover continued to take wickets at regular intervals, with all of the town sides bowlers contributing. Fran Andrews and Aldridge both took advantage of the spin and bounce on offer, racking up two and three wickets, respectively. In the end, some tight bowling kept the pressure on the visiting side, who were eventually bowled out for 167.

Next week sees Andover IVs away against South Wilts IVs in Salisbury.
