23 Sep 2016 : WANT TO BECOME A COACH?

As you will all appreciate, we rely heavily on the goodwill and generosity of many people when it comes to coaching our young players.

There are still spaces on most of the cricket coaching courses run by Hampshire Cricket this Autumn/Winter (including spaces on First Aid courses this weekend and a weekend in mid-October).  There are opportunities to gain a qualification as a Coaching Assistant (you must be aged 16 or over when doing this one-day course) or to gain a Level 2 qualification in either Coaching Children or Coaching Young People/Adults (you must be 18 on the day of the assessment which will be a day in March/April 2017).

Please click on this link for more details ... http://www.ageasbowl.com/cricket/news/become-a-cricket-coach/

As far as the First Aid courses are concerned, if you need to renew your First Aid qualification or if you feel that this might be of benefit to you, please do consider doing one of the HCB courses - they are very reasonably priced and when we actually get into the summer cricket season courses are very few and far between.

If you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact John Cook at the Ageas Bowl or Catherine Morton - 07771 622636

14 Sep 2016 : TOP MARKS FOR ACC GROUNDS TEAM

Andover Cricket Club's highly regarded London Road ground has once again received fantastic marks for their pitch and outfield, and are now now ranked as one of the best grounds to play cricket at in the Southern Premier League. The overall pitch marks for 2016, given by away team captains and both umpires every game, averages at just shy of 40 out of 50 marks (39.75). This tops last season's score of 37 and is our HIGHEST EVER ground score - an amazing achievement.

This was achieved largely due to two factors; excellent new ground equipment and a hardworking and skilled grounds team. Huge thanks go again to Dilys Williams for her fundraising efforts that made the purchasing of new equipment possible, and Mike Adams and his team of Keith Williams, Andy Hooper and Rodney Adams for working tirelessly on the ground to produce one of the best cricket grounds in the south.

25 Jan 2016 : VIC LANGDOWN RIP
We received the sad news that Life Member and lifelong supporter of Andover Cricket Club, Vic Langdown, passed away last Thursday. Vic was an integral part of the club throughout the 80s and 90s, supporting his two sons Ian and Neil who both represented the 1st team for many years. He continued to support the club with his wife Mary even after their sons stopped playing and he could always be found sat on a bench on the boundary edge with a smile on his face.

Our thoughts and condolences are with Mary, Ian, Neil and the rest of their family and friends. Further details of funeral arrangements will appear in Friday's Andover Advertiser.

15 Jan 2016 : SUPPER CLUB IS NOW OPEN!

A new fundraising initiative has started at ACC and it tastes good!

We are asking people to host an evening at their own homes for fellow members of the cricket club by invite only and charge a small fee for the food and drink they serve up. It really is that simple.

In small groups of likeminded people, take turns to make supper and invite people round to your home to enjoy the evening. Everyone contributes £10 (or more if they feel like it!) to the host and all money raised goes to the club towards our new pavillion fund. Once you have done your turn, you then get to enjoy the food at other people's homes. It is a great way to socialise with people from the club all year round.

This can start immediately. If you want to host an evening but don't know who to invite (if you're new to the club for example), then please get in touch with Dilys Williams or Ali Hooper who will be able to help you plan your evening. If your home can only hold 6 or 4 people, still go ahead with it because every penny counts and you'll still have a great evening.

If you want to share your evening then feel free to tweet @andovercricket with the #ACCsupperclub or post pictures/stories to our Facebook page and we will share it with all our followers (of which there are over a 1,000 now!).

Enjoy the food!
