Andover Cricket Club 2nd XI (Sat) v Cadnam on Sat 11 Jun 2011 at 1:00pm
Andover Cricket Club Won By 66 Runs (ACC Score Reduced to 255 Due to Rain)

Match report Andover 2nd XI overcame Cadnam at the weekend, in a rain affected match, thanks largely to an impressive batting performance from their top order,

Andover were asked to bat first on a good batting surface a London Road, by the opposing skipper. They got off to the perfect start, as both openers; Jack Andrews (52) and James Halle-Smith (64) disposed clinically of some suspect Cadnam bowling to take Andover to 100 without loss. The new man in was the experienced Andy Sale, who steadily kept the score board ticking over as he began to ac cumulate a large score. Some solid support from Nick Hargreaves (18) and Dave Webb (12) allowed Sale to take the lead role and make a superb 100 not out as his side finished on 275 for 4.

However, some strong showers during the interval caused a reduced overs game with Cadnam now required to score 255 off 42 overs, a tough task against a strong bowling attack. In spite of Cadnam’s best efforts, Andover kept things tight from the start, by bowling with good accuracy and fielding with a good energy and commitment. Despite keeping wickets in hand throughout the innings, Cadnam never got going, and with the required run rate soaring, began to loose wickets against the excellent bowling of Dave Webb 2-35 and James Duckworth 2-32. After30 overs had elapsed it became apparent that Cadnam were not going to get near the Andover score, and the game petered out as both sides pushed for bonus points. Eventually they finished on 189 for 5, 66 runs short of Andover.

Another strong performance from Andover sees the move up the table and the will be hoping to close the gap on the top sides with victory tomorrow against Gosport.
