Shrewton II v Andover Cricket Club 4th XI (Sat) on Sat 21 May 2011 at 2:00pm
Andover Cricket Club Lost by 4 wickets.

Match report Andover IV's lost a difficult match against Shrewton IIs on Saturday, 21 May.

Andover's top order started slowly against some well-targeted bowling, with Richard Channon (19) and Colin Evans (8) both playing a watchful role against Shrewton's Ross Wilson-Harries and youngster Kieron McCore. After a small wobble, Alex Webber and Brendan Clarke brought Andover back into contention with a 76-run partnership. Clarke provided some big hitting before being bowled on 31. Andover captain Goodman (13 not out) provided support while Webber continued his run of form from last week, looking composed at the crease before being bowled for 66 in the 41st over. Dan Cope added nine late vital runs to take Andover's total to 190-8.

Shrewton's batting line-up was strengthened by the presence of Will Sleeman and Mike Barton, who put Andover's opening attack of Clarke and Goodman to the sword, hitting boundaries at will. Needing a breakthrough with a change of pace, Dan Cope delivered for Andover in his third over, with Sleeman top-edging to the safe hands of Robbie Skeates for 57. Mike Gord (28) carried on the momentum with Barton (60), and things looked dark for Andover at 138-1 before Brendan Clarke came back into the attack to promptly remove both. Andover finished stronger than they started, as Clarke kept the home side under pressure as Andover's best bowler on the day, taking another wicket to finish with figures of 10.0-1-39-3. Two wickets in a very promising spell from Hamish Morton (4.0-0-18-2) at the other end turned the screw on Shrewton, but Wilson-Harries (12 not out) and skipper Bentley (5 not out) managed to see their side over the finish line.
