Redlynch & Hayle v Andover Cricket Club 2nd XI (Sat) on Sat 05 Aug 2017 at 2pm
Andover Cricket Club Won By 4 runs

Match report After two rounds of fixtures washed out by unseasonly wet weather, Test Valley Windows sponsored Andover 2nd XI resumed their promotion push in Hampshire County Division 2 against Redlynch and Hale

Andover were asked to bat first after losing the toss and got off to a rapid start with Shaun Attwood getting stuck in immediately. A few lusty blows put Andover on the front foot, before he fell to a quick yorker for 20. From here, fellow opener Kelum Wata and new batsman Andrew Duckworth set about laying a platform for the town side. They batted sensibly together, steadily accumulating runs and punishing the bad ball when it came. They took Andover up to 135 for 1 in the 29th over before Duckworth was controversially given out caught behind. Watta then accelerated the scoring, reaching a magnificent 87 before being caught on the boundary. Andover's remaining batsmen failed to get going and take full advantage of the platform laid down by the top 3, but they closed on a solid 225 for 8.

Andover started brilliantly with the ball with Knight and Duckworth combining to snare 3 early wickets, to put Andover in control. Redlynch sought about rebuilding their innings and developed partnerships throughout their middle order. They took advantage of Andover's wayward bowling and an unusually large number of no-balls - including two that were wicket taking delivieries - to reach 180 - 4. The timely introduction of Andrew Duckworth to bowl at the end saw him begin to take wickets and put the Andover side back in the ascendancy, despite a controversial overturned run-out decision. With two overs to go, Redlynch required 8 runs with just one wicket left. After being pulled of 4 leaving 4 required of 10 balls, Andrew Duckworth finished the game by clean bowling Redlynch's last man to give Andover a thoroughly deserved victory

Andover continue their promotion push next week with a huge clash against table topping Bedhampton.
