Andover Cricket Club News story

21 Jun 2018

Andover Women first came to cricket through the T10 Hampshire cricket initiative in 2015.  So enthused by our amazing coach, Natasha Marissa, that after a successful go at the pink bouncy ball and bat we decided to enter the league and do it properly.

We had a tough first season in 2016 playing some very experienced teams but we held it together!  In 2017 we went on to win division 3 with only one loss.

By this point our squad is now mostly made up of U16 youth players.  We have great support from our club and our main aim is to really enjoy playing cricket and improve along the way.  I think we are achieving that!

We have been very fortunate to receive sponsorship from Sq Ft Storage of Andover which was a huge help in getting the team off the ground in its infancy and ongoing costs.

About this ECB T20 comp

Andover CC Women's XI make it through to the National ECB T20 Plate finals in Wales.

Our first-round game was played against Portsmouth who we convincingly beat by 50 runs. Onto the second round we met a very youthful side, Burgess Hill from Sussex.  This was a nail biter of a game seeing Andover defend a woeful 65 runs and win by 2 runs!

Our next game was unfortunately conceded by Spencer CC who were unable to field a team.

This puts us into the finals day on 24th June where Andover Women XI will hopefully continue their winning streak
