Andover Cricket Club - Junior Section

13th June 2020

Dear All

I hope you and your families are all keeping well.

I am writing to inform you of what we are trying to do at Andover Cricket Club in the light of the now loosening lockdown regulations.

We are keen to get some form of cricket going for the children as soon as we realistically can. We plan, therefore, to offer sessions in the now allowed “bubbles” of 5 plus a coach/helper at London Road. To start with we will have just two groups on the ground at one time. One group will play in a net and the other will do individual activities outside of the net.

Government/ECB guidelines will need to be adhered to and these can be seen at We will assume you have read and agree to our proposals and the Gov/ECB rules once you confirm your wish to take part as requested below. Please be prepared to complete a health checklist on each occasion you attend the ground.

Participants will need to be formally signed up and paid members and must bring all their own equipment, including a named hard or incrediball depending on the age group involved.

Sessions will last for approx. 60 mins and we hope to be able to accommodate four separate “bubbles” on both Monday and Tuesday afternoons. For example, two groups from 4.30-5.30pm and two from 5.45-6.45pm.

We envisage having an in/out traffic system in place at the ground and start times of the sessions will be staggered, with a short interval at change over time. The pavilion will not be open so no drinks, changing or toilet facilities will be available on site. Players should have their own handwash/disinfectant for use both before and after sessions and parents should remain in their cars for the duration of their child’s session.

Once we have knowledge as to how many would like to be involved, we can plan the actual sessions and invite members to attend as fairly as we can. Obviously this will not be the same as in a normal year but we plan to do the best we can in the circumstances. If/when allowed we will look to expand the numbers involved.

I know that some of you have signed up and paid your subscriptions for this year and that others, not unreasonably, have not due to the current uncertainty. However in order to take part in training sessions both now and (hopefully) as things are opened up further over time, you must please now sign up and pay your subscription if you wish to take part in whatever training we are able to offer and also, in due course, some friendly games of cricket either internally or against other clubs.

I understand that things will not be like a normal season and that you will wish to get value for money from your subscription. It is therefore our intention to holdover all subs paid this year to cover next season as well. However, any training sessions attended this year will be “charged” at £5 each and a tally of these will be kept for each participant. The total in each case will be noted and a request for payment made for this amount only at the time when membership renewals would be due in 2021.

As far as any friendly matches played against other clubs are concerned, if they happen, members will be charged the usual match fee of £5. Again, to avoid the use of cash, the number of matches played by each member will be noted and payment will be requested either at the end of this season, or at the same time as any training fees due, according to the above training plan, are requested ie in early 2021.

Lastly, for anyone who has paid their subscription in full already, but knows they will be unableor not prepared, to play this season whatever the government guidelines, we are able to offer a refund. If, on the other hand, you felt able to consider your subscription as a donation, the Club would be extremely appreciative of your support.

If you have any questions in respect of the above, please contact either Charlotte Chamberlin: or myself, and we will do our best to help. Otherwise I hope to see you soon at our London Road ground for some long awaited cricket!

With thanks for your continued support.

Best wishes

Nick Hopton
